Trump Administration Absurdities

I was recently considering writing a post describing the shit show of American politics, but there has been just way too much to consider. Instead, I'll use this post to compile events worth discussion. Whenever I get around to it, I'll create a section categorized by date, where each category lists absurdities I discovered for that day. This post will also contain bullshit inspired by the administration at the state and local level; absurdities that would normally be quite rare but are becoming increasingly more common as a consequence of degenerate politics at the federal level. Should be fun to watch this grow.

March 21st 2025:

 I've never quite understood, what appears to be, the strong need to associate ones identity with categorical membership. Given this, I hesitantly refer to myself as an Agnostic. I do this because it has avoided, to some extent, rigid definition contrary to other stances; so on this ground I am keen to associate oneself with the label. Agnostics sit adjacent to, rather than opposed to, traditional binaries such as Theism vs Atheism; and can more broadly be applicable in conversations about political and economic ideologies. I've always view Agnosticism as a disposition, a collection of habits, pattern of inquiry, or an attitude toward uncertainty rather than a specific philosophical position towards certain metaphysical doctrines. The Nature of Agnosticism Part 2

As I reflect more on my agnosticism I've come to some additional conclusions about the general tendencies or patterns of thinking entailed by agnosticism. I will mention a few arguments from the philosophy of religion that I find utterly unconvincing but are surprisingly convincing to a large fraction of theists, how we should be evaluating the worldviews that generate these faulty arguments, why it's pointless to engage in speculative argumentation, and how we should reevaluate our conceptions of the structure and nature of these types of belief systems. The Nature of Agnosticism: Part 4.4

The last few posts have been comprised of longer explanations of the dynamics of religious belief. This post will be much briefer, serving more as an appendix. It contains additional features I've found relevant but do not warrant a full length post, mainly because I have better things to do. All of these are considered to be mechanisms that contribute to the persistence of belief in monotheistic religions but they can also be applicable to anything considered a belief system proper. Contrary to religious apologists, belief is not simply a decision. Belief seems to be an emergent phenomenon arising from a complex interaction of cultural, lifestyle, and experiential factors. I am not going account for the formation of these systems, rather I will just explain more features that contribute to the positive feedback loop dynamics maintaining belief.
